Fort Myers, FL | March 20, 2014
Global HR Research (GHRR) becomes the Champion Sponsor for the Champions 4 Children’s (C4C) inaugural event on April 4th and 5th, 2014. This is a one of a kind fundraiser featuring current and former NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, Olympic and Collegiate athletes as well as Roy Firestone. The event will take place over two days at local venues in Fort Myers, FL. This event will raise funds to feed hundreds of children; made possible by the major beneficiary Blessings in a Backpack: Lee County.
All funds raised by or donated to Blessings in a Backpack of Lee County stay in Southwest Florida. The Lee County Chapter does not have a paid staff; all of their work is done through a volunteer board led by Scott Fischer (Scott Fischer Enterprises) along with a group of local businessmen and community leaders. Blessings in a Backpack of Lee County is currently feeding over 3,000 children right in Southwest Florida. The donation alone from GHRR will feed close to 200 children in the Southwest Florida community.
“Global HR Research is an organization that believes in giving back and C4C is an event that will provide much needed support for the Lee County chapter of Blessings in a Backpack. We’re proud to be the Champion sponsor of this year’s event and we inspired by the level of involvement by so many known local and national figures that so graciously donated their time, money and resources in support of C4C. All of us at GHRR look forward to being involved in this event,” said GHRR’s President and CEO, Brandon G. Phillips, about GHRR’s involvement.
The C4C weekend will boast events that are interactive and filled with one-on-one time with the champions. Thanks to sponsors like GHRR, this event will be able to donate all proceeds towards the benefiting organizations.
The main event for all to enjoy will be the Roy Firestone Show on April 4th at Bishop Verot High School’s Anderson Theatre. Mr. Firestone will be putting on an amazing and custom show just for C4C. For this single event, tickets are available for $40 a seat. The proceeds of ticket sales for this event will go directly to Blessings in a Backpack and C4C’s ticket sale partners, Junior Achievement and the FGCU Wrestling Club.
As Mohammad Ali told Roy Firestone in an interview:
“A champion is not defined by his wins or losses, a champion is not defined by the money he has accrued or the amount of friends he even has, a champion is defined by the ability to lift another human being.”
The champions who have generously donated their time to the event truly fit the description stated by Mohammad Ali. Those athletes include: Chris Conlin former Miami Dolphin, Rodgers Alexander former Penn State Nittany Lion, Scott Kehoe former Miami Dolphin, Adam Piatt former Oakland A, Mike Scully current PGA Pro and former Kansas City Chief and Washington Redskin, Jack “Goose” Givens former University of Kentucky all-star, 1988 Olympic Bronze Medalist Nate Carr, FGCU Wrestling Club Coach Pat Milkovich, and many more.
